U Bundle Heat Exchanger Shell & Tube Type Evaporator For R22 System
A U-bundle is a highly efficient heat exchanger commonly used in R22 refrigeration systems. In this direct-expansion (DX) setup, liquid R22 flows inside the tubes while water or brine flows through the shell. The U-tube design allows for easy bundle removal and compensates for extreme thermal stress.
To ensure optimal performance and longevity for an R22 system, consider these standard parameters and design features:
Materials: Typically constructed with high-efficiency, internally grooved copper tubes for maximum heat transfer. Stainless steel (316L) or titanium tube bundles are used for corrosive brines.
Operating Pressures: Evaporators are typically designed for a maximum refrigerant-side working pressure of up to 3.0 MPa and water-side pressure of 2.0 MPa.
Thermal Expansion: The U-tube configuration allows for independent tube bundle expansion and contraction. This eliminates the risk of tubes cracking from thermal shock.
